The Origins of Emesal workshop 25.-26.6.2025

The main topic of the workshop is Emesal, a variant of Sumerian. The event will showcase several resources that were processed and made available in collaboration with the Language Bank of Finland. The event will be streamed on June 25-26. Please see the workshop programme on the website of ANEE.

Courses and training materials

The online course Corpus Linguistics and Statistical Methods (5 ECTS) will be offered again 1.9.–19.10.2025 and 12.1.–27.2.2026. Introduction to Speech Analysis (5 ECTS) will also be organized online during 27.10.–12.12.2025. In case you intend to start working on your thesis next winter, consider participating in the Data Clinic course (5 ECTS) that focusses on data management planning from various perspectives. The online courses are open to students from all universities, even outside Finland, unless the maximum group size is exceeded.

News from the FIN-CLARIAH research infrastructure

FIN-CLARIAH Roadshow

The FIN-CLARIAH project will be presented in different locations through a series of roadshow events where you can learn more about current research, methods, tools and services in the humanities and social sciences. Of course, the Language Bank of Finland will also be there! In September 2025, FIN-CLARIAH will pay a visit to CSC Data Center in Kajaani.

Research Director Krister Lindén was appointed as Chair of the Steering Group of Språkbanken, Sweden as of 1.1.2025

Krister Lindén’s position of trust will make it even easier for the language banks in Finland and in Sweden to collaborate. Read more
