FIN-CLARIAH research infrastructure receives funding and lighthouse status from the Research Council of Finland

FIN-CLARIAH has been selected for the 2025-2028 Roadmap for Finnish Research Infrastructures. The roadmap is a tool for the research community, policy makers and funders to guide investments and support research, development and innovation. The research infrastructures selected for the roadmap will receive funding from the Research Council of Finland.

The FIN-CLARIAH research infrastructure has now also received funding for 2026-2029. In the new funding period, the focus will be on improving support for the SSH infrastructure with large language models and artificial intelligence.

FIN-CLARIAH now a lighthouse infrastructure

The Finnish Research Infrastructure Committee (FIRI Committee) has selected six of the most successful infrastructures in the Roadmap call as ’Lighthouse’ infrastructures. FIN-CLARIAH is honoured to be one of them.

According to the Research Council of Finland, lighthouses are “the most successful infrastructures in the roadmap call, meet the lighthouse criteria and lead the way in all key infrastructure areas, such as service provision, impact, functionality and shared use. The lighthouses are showcases of and spearheads for the service offer and impact of roadmap research infrastructures.”

FIN-CLARIAH is a nationwide research infrastructure launched in 2022 and funded by the Research Council of Finland. FIN-CLARIAH continues and expands the long-term work that FIN-CLARIN has been doing since 2008 with the support of the Research Council of Finland and the University of Helsinki. The FIN-CLARIAH infrastructure thereby consists of two components, FIN-CLARIN and DARIAH-FI.
