
We are pleased to invite you to the Digital Language Sovereignty – Euskadi–Finland AI & Language Workshop, which takes place on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, from 09:00 to 16:00 at the University of Helsinki.
This workshop brings together key stakeholders from Euskadi (Basque Country) and Finland to explore current developments and future opportunities in artificial intelligence and language technologies, with a particular focus on digital language sovereignty and low-resource languages.
The programme will cover three main perspectives:
• Strategic: public policy, national AI and language strategies, and infrastructures
• Scientific and technological: AI, language models, and corpora
• Industrial and applied: real-world use cases and knowledge transfer
The workshop is addressed to researchers, policymakers, industry professionals, and practitioners working in AI and language technologies.
The event will be held in English and will be accessible both on-site and online.
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required. The registration deadline for the on-site event is 14 April 2026.
The event is organized by Euskorpora and the Department of Digital Humanities, University of Helsinki.

The aim of this workshop is to gather ideas and discuss how our Research Infrastructure can better support the Research Community. We will hear presentations and updates from a few ongoing projects, as well as learn about new CSC services for researchers in the digital humanities. After the presentations, there will be time for discussion.
The event is open to everyone, and we would especially like to invite FIN-CLARIAH collaborators and researchers who use Kielipankki and CSC resources to join this workshop.

The European Language Data Space and the University of Helsinki are bringing together experts from the Finnish Industry, Public Administration and Research to discuss the importance of language data for the development of Language Technologies and AI-based tools in Finland. The event is taking place on 10.04.2024 at Clarion Hotel Helsinki.
The workshop is addressed to data owners and data providers, LT developers and integrators and SMEs, as well as to public administration executives, officers and partners.
