DESCRIPTION:CLARIN Café: Of Users and Infrastructures\nAbout\n\nThis Café focuses on the digital research practices and needs of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) stakeholders\, particularly in light of the impact of the pandemic. User needs\, research practices and relevant workflows presented are based on the findings of a recent survey conducted as part of the Greek project ‘The Emerging Landscape of Digital Work Practices in the Humanities in the Context of the European Research Infrastructures DARIAH and CLARIN’. \nThe primary motivation for this event is to highlight the lessons learned and to discuss the implications of these findings for future research infrastructure design and improvement. DESCRIPTION:CLARIN Café – SSHOC Marketplace and Workflows\nAbout\n\nThis CLARIN Café showcases the SSH Open Marketplace\, a discovery portal which pools and contextualises resources for Social Sciences and Humanities research communities\, and its close connections with the CLARIN infrastructure. More specifically\, it aims to: (i) provide an overview of the types of resources available on the SSH Open Marketplace\, such as tools and services\, training materials\, datasets\, publications and workflows\, (ii) discuss the challenges and the opportunities linked to adding CLARIN resources to the SSH Open Marketplace\, and (iii) introduce the notion of ‘workflow’ and make a demo of how workflows are built on the SSH Open Marketplace platform. The presentations will include references to CLARIN language resources\, and will argue that their registration on the SSH Open Marketplace and their inclusion in workflows increases their added value and reusability potential. \nThis CLARIN Café is organised in the framework of a paper entitled ‘The SSH Open Marketplace and CLARIN’\,​​ presented at the CLARIN 2023 Annual Conference and published in its proceedings. DESCRIPTION:Kun halutaan kehittää puheella toimivia palveluita\, joita voi käyttää suomeksi\, tarvitaan valtava määrä suomenkielistä puhetta erilaisilta\, eri-ikäisiltä ihmisiltä. Vuosina 2020-2024 toimineen Lahjoita puhetta -kampanjan tarkoituksena oli kerätä suuri ja mahdollisimman monipuolinen suomenkielinen puheaineisto\, jota sekä tutkijat että yritykset voisivat käyttää. Lahjoittamista varten kehitettiin erillinen sovellus\, jonka avulla kuka tahansa vapaaehtoinen saattoi tehdä hauskoja tehtäviä\, joiden aikana hänen puheensa äänitettiin. This meetup aims to raise discussion around issues like dataset publication\, open access resources and open publication of other important research materials – meanwhile offering some potential solutions. \nJoin us on May 27 for a discussion featuring Mikael Laakso (Tampere University)\, Mietta Lennes (The Language Bank of Finland / University of Helsinki)\, and Pyry Kantanen (University of Turku)\, who will share insights on the topic. \nRajapinta meetup \nPlace: Valtiotieteellinen tiedekunta\, Unioninkatu 37\, faculty meeting room (enter through main doors\, 1st floor to the right) and Zoom \nSpeakers:\nMikael Laakso is an Associate professor in Information studies at Tampere University.\nMikael’s research focuses on scholarly publishing and communication very broadly\, where one consistent theme has been research related open access publishing and open science practices more generally. In his talk he will give insight into some examples of how one can conduct research-on-research to gain insight on knowledge development within various research disciplines. \nMietta Lennes works as a Project Planner for the Language Bank of Finland (Kielipankki) at the University of Helsinki. Mietta’s talk is titled Licenses and data protection in the Language Bank of Finland. She will present an overview of the current possibilities in the Language Bank for depositing and sharing research data in case the content cannot be made publicly available\, e.g.\, due to personal data.\nPresentation: PDF | PowerPoint \nPyry Kantanen is a Research Assistant in the Turku Data Science Group at University of Turku.
